A 25 year-old U.S. Army veteran woman and purported mother of three small children has left everything to fight the Islamic State.

Samantha Jay joined Kurdish forces fighting the terror organization two weeks ago, according to her Facebook. Information on her page says Jay worked in the field of geospatial engineering for the U.S. Army and suggests she is from North Carolina.

The Facebook page for Female Fighters Of Kurdistan posted, “Samantha Jay has left her 2 small children in #US joins #Kurdish forces in the fight against #ISIS  Talk about courage & superhuman belief!Love U.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation is as of yet unable to independently verify the information.

Rudaw English, a Kurdish news outlet, also posted on Facebook about Jay fighting with Kurdish forces.

Jay wrote on her page today, “I have been in Kurdistan for two weeks and the people here have changed me already.. For the better, forever. The world should look to kurdistan as a role model. I miss my family very much but the kurds go above and beyond making me feel at home. ‪#‎herbijikurdistan‬”

Her Biji Kurdistan means “Long Live Kurdistan.”

Today, Jay posted this picture on Facebook with the caption: “I have met my other family. I love kurdistan.”

“At the village that was once controlled by Daesh,” wrote Jay on April 22, referring to the Islamic State by its Arabic-language acronym.

Jay posted on April 22, “Yes, I’m in Iraq and I’m staying safe. I’m with amazing people and I love being here in kurdistan. I can’t give much details about what I’m doing here for security reasons but thank you for all the prayers and encouraging words.”

By saying she is in Iraq and Kurdistan, Jay is referring to the semi-autonomous Kurdish region in northern Iraq. The Kurds are an ethnic group with large communities in Iraq, Syria and Turkey. The Kurdish Peshmerga and the Kurdish YPG – also known as the People’s Protection Unit – are battling the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Another U.S. Army veteran, Jordan Matson, joined the Kurdish YPG to fight the Islamic State in Syria last year. (RELATED: US Vet Fighting ISIS Says Attacks Increase As Airstrikes Cut Out [VIDEO])
