District of Columbia police officer and local pastor Darrell Best, who is facing charges for sexually assaulting two teenage girls, will now face additional charges for child pornography.

Prosecutors announced their plans to file the child pornography charges during a hearing in D.C. Superior court Tuesday. They came across nude pictures of one of the girls Best is accused of abusing on his phone, according to local radio station WTOP.

Police arrested Best, who has been a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department for 25 years, in March and charged him with assaulting a 16-year-old girl three times at the church he worked at and she attended.

Another victim, a 17-year-old girl, according to The Washington Post, came forward later and told investigators Best sexually assaulted her. She also attended church with Best.

He allegedly picked the 16-year-old girl up at a Metro station and took her back to his office in D.C. police headquarters, where he proceeded to sexually assault her. The other assault, according to the Post, happened inside the church the three attended.

Best allegedly took the second girl to the church and took the nude pictures of her before he sexually assaulted her. He assaulted her again later when she was at the church for choir practice.

Best is currently on paid leave from the MPD and will be held in jail until his trial is over.
