Among the surfing community, it’s a well known fact that most Mexican waves don’t come close to matching the scale of those in Hawaii, but the swells at Puerto Escondido — a.k.a. “Mexican Pipeline” — are the exception.
This past weekend, Puerto Escondido saw some record breaking waves — experts believe they might be the largest in Mexican history — and naturally, surf bros from all over the world attempted to tame these giants.
Long story short… they failed.
