Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a day into the presidential race, is embarking on what his campaign is calling an “aggressive month-long fundraising schedule,” with at least 17 fundraisers scheduled across the country to build up his campaign war chest.
“On the heels of his 2016 presidential campaign launch, Governor Mike Huckabee and our team have assembled an aggressive month-long fundraising schedule with stops across the entire continental United States,” Huckabee senior adviser Chip Saltsman wrote in a Wednesday memo.
The fundraisers are taking place in Texas, Washington D.C., Arizona, Tennessee, California, New York and Arkansas. Arizona Rep. Trent Franks is set to host a May 14 fundraiser for Huckabee in Phoenix.
By releasing details about fundraising, Huckabee’s team is attempting to project strength when it comes to raising money, something the Republican struggled to do as a first-time presidential candidate in 2008.
Now that Huckabee — who hosted a Fox News show and a radio show — is better known across the country, the candidate says he’s confident he will be capable of raising enough dough to run a competitive campaign.
Here is where Huckabee plans to fundraise, according to the memo:
