Two Gulf men were sentenced to a year in prison for shaving the head, beard and mustache of an Asian driver as punishment for allegedly driving recklessly in Qatar.
The defendants claim the driver pulled in front of them without signalling, overtaking “their car in a reckless manner that almost caused them to hit the side pavement,” reports Gulf News.
According to the driver, he was driving normally when the men signaled for him to pull over. He initially ignored it, but the defendants continued to pursue him, so he finally pulled over. The men insulted the driver and tied him up in the back of his car.
“Then, one of them took out a shaver and shaved off half of my head, beard and moustache. They eventually untied me and sped away in their car. I alerted the police and an investigation was launched,” said the driver, as quoted by Gulf News.
The men admitted to attacking the driver, saying they wanted to “teach him a lesson” about how his reckless driving was putting lives at risk.
The defendants’ driver’s licenses were revoked for three months following the prison sentence, according to Al Riya.
