On Sunday, fans gathered to watch the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns take on the Baylor Bears in an NCAA softball regional matchup.

Since the game wasn’t the first to be played that day — the Bears had beaten the Cajuns earlier on Sunday to force a final, rubber-match — officials planned to begin the second game without singing the National Anthem, but the Cajun faithful weren’t having any of that.

The crowd took to their feet and joined together to belt out one of the most powerful versions of “The Star Spangled Banner” in recent memory.

Cajuns head coach had this to say about the touching scene:

The fact that our crowd would do that shows you how classy they are. They are here for softball, but there also here to do it right. They understand the tradition of the game. They understand the festivity of the game and singing the national anthem before it started was only the right thing to do.

I couldn’t agree more.
