Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was pressed Tuesday over her recent financial disclosure report showing that she (along with husband Bill Clinton) made $30 million since the beginning of 2014, with $25 million coming from paid speeches.

Following her event with business leaders in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a reporter asked Clinton how voters “relate” to her considering her spot among the one percent of earners.

“On your income disclosure recently that came out Friday, you’re in the tip-top echelon of earners in this country,” the reporter asked. “How do you expect Americans to relate to you?”

“Well, obviously, Bill and I have been blessed and we’re very grateful for opportunities we had,” Clinton started. “But we’ve never forgotten where we came from and we’ve never forgotten the kind of country that we want to see for our granddaughter, and that this means we’re going to fight to make sure everybody has the same changes to live up to his or her own god-given potential.

“So I think most Americans understand that the deck is stacked for those at top. I am running a campaign that is clearly stating we want to reshuffle that deck,” she continued. We want to get back to having more opportunities for more people so that they can make more out of their own lives, and I think that’s what exactly what America is looking for.”
