Jim Bob Duggar ran for the Republican nomination for Senate in Arkansas back in 2002, and in his positional statement on abortion, the “19 Kids and Counting” patriarch said he thinks incest is “heinous” and should be treated as a capital crime, therefore making it punishable by death.

The stance, pointed out by Gawker, is still available on a web archive of Jim Bob’s campaign site.

“Rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes.”

Josh Duggar, Jim Bob’s 27-year-old son, recently admitted to molesting several underage girls when he was a teenager, including his own sisters. (RELATED: Mama June Threatens To Sue TLC For Not Canceling Duggar Family’s Show Over Molestation Accusations)

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” Josh Duggar said.

Josh also resigned from his job with the Family Research Council in Washington. (VIDEO: Josh Duggar Cracks Up Over Incest Joke He Made On TV)
