In an op-ed for Politico, the architects’ of MoveOn.org’s “Run Warren Run” initiative officially gave up on trying to draft Democratic Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren into the 2016 presidential race.

“Today we announce the suspension of our campaign to draft Elizabeth Warren into the presidential race,” writes MoveOn.org’s Ilya Sheyman and Charles Chamberlain. “There’s no sugar-coating it: We didn’t achieve our central goal.” (RELATED: Democratic Senator Accuses Obama Of Sexism For Attacking Elizabeth Warren)

But, they write, they still won. Kind of. “In the six months since we launched the Run Warren Run effort, Senator Warren’s agenda and message have transformed the American political landscape… Although Run Warren Run may not have sparked a candidacy, it ignited a movement.”

The Soros-funded MoveOn.org and Howard Dean-funded Democracy for America reportedly spent a combined $1.25 million trying to draft a candidate who clearly had no intention to run.
