At 24-28, the Seattle Mariners haven’t exactly had a great start to the 2015 season.

Despite lofty offseason expectations, manager Lloyd McClendon’s club has lost five of its last six games, and the skipper had to take drastic action to try to right the ship on the other night.

Among America’s four major sports, baseball is unique in the way a coach’s ejection can light a fire beneath a team and its fans. In the top of the third inning of Tuesday’s game against the Yankees, McClendon attempted to do just that.
