Hey Mediaite, Marc Lamont Hill Called, He Wants The ‘C’ In His Name Back

Mediaite reporter Evan MkMurry‘s day started early today.

By 8:44 a.m. he already had a story about HuffPost Live’s Marc Lamont Hill posted to the site. Good job! It was newsworthy and entailed Hill hugging a CNN police analyst. Except the way they had it (the way they still have it as of 1:50 p.m.) is “Mark Lamont Hill.” Three times — in the headline, the lede and the video — they spell his name with a “k” instead of a “c.”

This is obviously not life or death. In the grand scheme of life, really, who cares? Journalists have dealt with a lot worse than having their names butchered in a news report.

But you’d be surprised.

Some journalists have gone for blood when their beloved names get screwed up in stories. Some have even complained to supervising editors for such a sickening crime. MkMurry is actually McMurry. But for the purposes of this post, he will be MkMurry even if they eventually correct Marc Lamont Hill’s name.

If the site corrects his name, MkMurry can return to being McMurry in future posts.

For now, Mediaite should probably not have MkMurry enter a public spelling bee.

See the screen grabs.
