During a special city council meeting Wednesday night, the city of Glendale, Ariz., terminated its arena lease with the Arizona Coyotes by a vote of 5-2.

The Coyotes were left homeless after the council’s decision, which cut short a 15-year lease — signed in 2013 — to house the team at Gila River Arena, and the organization vowed to “exhaust any and all legal remedies against the city of Glendale for this blatant violation of its contractual obligations to us.”

The Coyotes weren’t the only party incensed by the blatant breach of contract. Several Coyotes fans — including Ronda Pearson — let the city council know just what they thought of the decision.

Pearson also issued this statement following her speech:

The reason I was so upset is because this situation has gone on too long. When is enough going to be enough? When can hockey fans in the desert just enjoy hockey without having to worry about referendums, city council meetings, and speculation of relocation? Our ownership group is dedicated to a successful professional hockey team in Arizona. When the lease for Gila River Arena was agreed upon, Mayor Weiers said that although he didn’t like the deal, he would be supportive. How is this supportive? How is calling a meeting like this, before approaching the ownership group, supportive? I would love to know who pays for his tickets to hockey games.

Well said, Ronda.
