“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart mocked The New York Times’ recent of coverage of Sen. Marco Rubio’s driving habits and finances Wednesday night.

During the segment, which was entitled “Petty in Print,” Stewart wondered “how is this front-page news?”

“You bastard! Paying off law school loans? How dare you. At long last, senator, have you no sense of insolvency?” Stewart said.

Stewart went on to poke fun at the 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney for flagging the finances while vetting him for vice president during that cycle.

“I don’t know if Mitt Romney’s the guy to vet people on responsible spending. $80,000 on a boat slightly pales in comparison to $52 million on a losing pipe dream,” Stewart said referring to Romney’s 2008 White House bit. “At least Rubio’s got a boat to show for it.”
