This new hoverbike looks like something straight out of a futuristic sci-fi movie, but the future is here people, and it is awesome.

A Maryland based engineering company called SURVICE is teaming up with the British firm Malloy Aeronautics to develop a hoverbike that will be used for reconnaissance purposes by the Department of Defense, the companies said in a statement.

“I am pleased to join with SURVICE Engineering and Malloy Aeronautics to announce their partnership on the hoverbike, which represents a new frontier in aviation, said Maryland Lt. Governor Rutherford.

A model of the new class of tactical reconnaissance vehicle is currently on display at the Paris Air Show in Annapolis, Maryland, which runs through June 21, and is still being developed through a contract with the U.S. Army Research lab.

The company said the hoverbike could one day be flown either with someone on top of it or remotely for military and civilian purposes.
