Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning sent a birthday gift to the family of an Indiana teen who was killed in a drunk driving accident. Manning sent a handwritten letter and an autographed picture of himself.

Logan Brown was killed back in March. Brown was 15-years-old at the time and this past Tuesday would have been his 16th birthday.

The young man admired Manning, grandmother Gayle Ricketts told local Channel 14 News. “As a grandmother, I felt like I should let Peyton know this young man idolized him and what he meant in his life.”

She took it upon herself to send a personal letter to Manning and couldn’t believe the response she and her family got.

When the gift arrived in the mail Tuesday morning, Ricketts was speechless. The gift of a lifetime, the handwritten letter told the family that Manning was honored that Logan was such a big fan of his. The autographed picture was dedicated to Logan, as well, with Manning spelling out “Logan Michael Brown” above his own signature.

Charles Brown, Logan’s dad, was moved greatly by Manning’s generous birthday surprise. “To take the time to send something back to a situation in Evansville, Indiana that he probably doesn’t know anything about. It’s important to see that they’re humans and for these other kids to see you never forget where you came from.”

“I know Logan is up there looking down. He’s happy,” Ricketts said.
