Sidney Blumenthal was not the only former Clinton administration official outside of the Obama administration giving advice to Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of state under Obama.

Samuel “Sandy” Berger, who served as Bill Clinton’s national security adviser, also sent a 2009 email to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and gave her advice on how to “gain leverage over the Pakistanis to move them to more aggressively pursue AQ.”

“I’ve thought about it some more and, while I have no silver bullet, here are some further thoughts,” he adds.

Berger is probably best known for illegally removing classified documents from the National Archives in 2003 and knowingly destroying some of them as well as storing other documents in his private office. Berger was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and fined $50,000 as well as $6,905 for the administrative zcosts of his two-year probation.
