The Cape Verde Islands off the west coast of Africa are a veritable hotspot for landing some of the biggest Atlantic Blue Marlin on the planet, a fact the Big Oh Sportfishing team discovered over the holiday weekend.

While the rest of us celebrated Independence Day by grilling and watching the fireworks, these bros managed to reel in a Jurassic-sized catch. Not only was their 1,254-lb trophy the 4th-recorded grander — sport fish tipping the scales at over 1,000 lb’s — of 2015, but also the 9th-largest Atlantic Blue Marlin ever caught.
