Han Solo is finally getting his own screen time.
Disney has confirmed that there will be a Han Solo spin-off movie, even though the first film in the new Star Wars franchise isn’t out yet.
Christopher Miller and Phil Lord — the duo behind films like “The Lego Movie” and “21 Jump Street” — will direct the Han Solo origin film in the anthology series.
“We pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us,” Miller and Lord said in a statement on Tuesday. “We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience.”
The film is set to premiere in May 2018.
