It is uncertain if the meal was intentionally poisoned or if it was food poisoning, Haaretz reports. About 145 Islamic State fighters became sick from the dinner in total.

Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan, Islam’s holy month. After sundown, observers end the fast by eating a meal known as “iftar.”

Islamic State overran Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, last summer. The jihadi group is attempting to shore up support by aggressively governing the city and repairing roads and other services.

Any signs of dissent against Islamic State rule are firmly punished. One recently released video showed jihadis drowning, decapitating and incinerating purported spies. (RELATED: ISIS’ New Shock Video Shows Just How Desperate They Are)
