Are Pamela Anderson and Vladimir Putin exchanging love letters?

Not quite, but the two recently became pen pals. The former “Baywatch” star penned a letter to the Russian leader asking for his help to save the whales.

In the open letter, Anderson called on Putin to block passage of Winter Bay — a ship that’s currently carrying 1,700 tons of whale meat to Japan.

“These whales were killed illegally in violation of the International Whaling Commission’s moratorium on commercial whaling,” Anderson wrote. “It is also illegal to kill fin whales and to engage in the trade of endangered species.”

“The Winter Bay intends to transit through Russian waters with assistance of Russian icebreakers to deliver this illegal cargo to Japan. President Putin, you can stop this illegal transit by forbidding this vessel from carrying a cargo of endangered fin whale meat through Russian waters to Japan.”

“Your decision could put an end to the needless slaughter of endangered whales by Iceland.”

Anderson signed the letter, “Yours Sincerely.” (PHOTOS: Pamela Anderson Goes To Prison)
