Sen. Marco Rubio called a potential deal that could limit nuclear inspections of Iranian military facilities “worthless” as Secretary of State John Kerry and the Obama administration look to strike a deal.

Appearing on “America’s Newsroom,” the 2016 hopeful told host Martha MacCallum that the U.S. should have “walked away” from a potential bad deal with the Middle Eastern nation “a long time ago.”

The administration is currently in double overtime after pushing back the deadline for a deal twice, with July 10 being the current deadline for a potential accord.

“Number one is we’re going to find out over next few days whether Iran or the United States wants a deal more,” Rubio told the host. “I think one of the things the Iranians believed going into this was that Barack Obama and John Kerry were more desperate for a deal than they were. And they’re paring out these negotiation tactics and pushing very hard.”

“If they can arrive at deal where they can limit the amount of inspections on any level, then you have a deal that is worthless,” Rubio said. “But I would go further and say I think the Obama administration should have walked away from this a long time ago. Any deal that allows Iran to retain the ability to enrich uranium, any deal that allows Iran to build long-range rockets is a deal that’s no good.”

“The Iranians are going to figure out a way to exploit loopholes in this deal, and I have a no doubt that before the next 10 years is up, you’re going to see them making dramatic progress not just towards a nuclear weapon, but towards a delivery system that could bring it here to the continental United States,” he added.
