Jimmy Fallon canceled his TV show because of a mysterious hand injury, and on Monday the late night host finally explained how he almost had his finger amputated.
Fallon spent 10 days in ICU and was in surgery for six hours after he tripped over a braided rug in his kitchen and his ring got caught on the counter — causing something called ring avulsion.
“The odds aren’t great with this thing. This happens a lot, ” Fallon said, “And usually they’re just going to cut your finger off.”
