#NotAllMuslims Intimidate Charlie Hebdo Into Dropping Mohammed Cartoons

Let this serve as a lesson to all other religions, and all other groups of any kind: If you don’t want people to make fun of you, just start murdering them until they take the hint.

Jessica Goodman, Entertainment Weekly:

The editor of Charlie Hebdo, the French satirical newspaper that was attacked in January, said the publication would not draw cartoons of the prophet Muhammad anymore.

“We have drawn Muhammad to defend the principle that one can draw whatever one wants,” the magazine’s top editor Laurent Sourisseau said in an interview with German magazine, Stern. “It is a bit strange though: we are expected to exercise a freedom of expression that no one dares to. We’ve done our job. We have defended the right to caricature.”

I guess I can’t blame them. It’s not their fault that the world tweeted #JeSuisCharlie for five minutes and then moved on. It’s not their fault that when some Americans held a contest to draw Mohammed and were attacked by Islamist freaks, the victims were blamed. It’s not their fault that people don’t really care about terrorism until it happens to them.

Charlie Hebdo had the right to draw cartoons of Mohammed for any reason, and they have the right not to draw cartoons of Mohammed for any reason. For their sake, I hope capitulating to terrorists works.

Hey, have you drawn any good cartoons of Jesus lately? Don’t worry, nothing will happen to you.
