Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in a Thursday press conference warned President Obama to “tone down the rhetoric,” further retorting that “the rest of us will be dealing with the consequences” the Iran Deal.

Reporter: On Iran, the president’s national security advisor said yesterday that he was very confident that Congress will uphold the president’s veto. What do you think the prospects are to block it?

Sen. McConnell: Well, I don’t want to handicap the outcome. I do want to say this is a really big issue. As I think I’ve suggested earlier and we intend to handle this debate with dignity and respect, umm, and we will see what happens. The president strikes me at least so far as treating this like a political campaign. Demonize your opponents, gin up the base, get the Democrats all angry, and you know rally around the president. To me, this is a different kind of an issue. This is not your typical political debate. This is an enormous national security debate that the president will leave behind under the constitution a year and a half from now and the rest of us will be dealing with the consequences of it. So I wish he would tone down the rhetoric and let’s talk about the facts. And I can’t handicap the outcome, but my members will delve into the details and make a decision based upon what they think is in the best long-term interest of our country.
