CNN Political Director David Chalian was seen walking his dog Monday morning on 15 St. NW in Washington, D.C.

His medium-sized pooch was described as “unwieldy.”

“He couldn’t keep it from going up to sniff a random girl on the sidewalk,” the tipster remarked, noting that Chalian was wearing a suit. “He was an eager dog. David on his phone with coffee in other hand, unable to hold the leash tightly with such a lank energetic dog.”

Actually, Chalian admits to walking the dog, but not to walking the dog while drinking coffee.

“Rufus, a redtick coonhound, is a new addition as of a couple of weeks ago when he was adopted from a shelter in Fairfax Station, VA. So, as a first time dog owner, I think it is fair to say that it is I who is ‘unwieldy’ not Rufus,” Chalian told The Mirror. “I still have a lot to learn (and hopefully our Tuesday evening training classes will help), but I would never drink and walk. I admit to awkwardly juggling the phone and the poop baggie, but my coffee was left at home.”

Note: The above dog are is a random coonhound, not specifically Chalian’s.

No word on whether Chalian’s dog is friends with syndicated columnist Karl Frisch‘s dog, Dexter von Frisch, who won a Cutest Dog In D.C. contest back in 2010.
