Ted Cruz and Ellen Page briefly argued about religious liberties — or as Page put it, “the persecution of gays in the workplace and LGBT rights” — while the senator was campaigning at the Iowa State Fair Friday.

Page, disguised in sunglasses and a hat, was on location doing a project for Vice Media when she asked Cruz, “what about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?”

“Well, what we’re seeing right now, we’re seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith,” Cruz answered.

“You’re discriminating against LGBT people… Would you use that argument in segregation?” Page asked a second time.
