White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Monday that he “wouldn’t rule out the possibility of an endorsement” from President Obama in the Democratic Primary.

When asked about who the president would support in the 2016 Election, Earnest said that Obama does “plan to vote in the Illinois primary and that ultimately it will be Democratic voters who are responsible for  choosing the Democratic nominee.”

Earnest continued, “I wouldn’t speculate at this point about whether or not the president would offer an endorsement in the Democratic Primary.”

When asked specifically about an endorsement of either Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, or even Bernie Sanders, Earnest replied, “I wouldn’t rule out an endorsement.”

Earlier in the daily briefing, Earnest was asked about Biden meeting with Sen. Elizabeth Warren over the weekend where he reiterated that “the President has indicated his view that the decision that he made… to add Joe Biden to the ticket as his running mate was the smartest decision he ever made in politics and I think that should give you some sense of the President’s view of Vice President Biden’s aptitude for the top job.”
