Likely voters are split on whether Hillary Clinton should suspend her campaign in light of the legal questions surrounding her use of a private email server as Secretary of State, a new Rasmussen survey found.

Forty-six percent of those polled Sunday and Monday believe Clinton should suspend her campaign for the Democratic nomination for president, until “all of the legal questions” about her server are answered.

That includes nearly one in four likely Democrat voters (24 percent), an overwhelming percentage of likely Republican voters (73 percent) and 46 percent of undecided likely voters.

The FBI is investigating the matter and recently seized the server Clinton used while Secretary of State from a cybersecurity company she hired in 2013 to manage the system. She has denied any wrongdoing, but is struggling to hide her frustration with the ongoing questions and negative press. (RELATED: Former Attorney General Calls Claims Hillary Will Be Okay ‘Ridiculous’)

Rasmussen also asked likely voters whether they believe the national security concerns raised by her use of a private server constitute a serious scandal. Forty-five percent of all voters, including 18 percent of Democrats, said they do consider it a serious scandal.

Clinton’s polling average has dropped sharply since May, when she led her closest Democratic rival, Joe Biden, by more than 50 points, according to Real Clear Politics. In the most recent polls, Bernie Sanders is now just about 25 points behind Clinton.

The Rasmussen poll of 1,000 likely voters has a margin of error of +/- 3 points.
