There’s no good way to spin this.

Which is likely why Bloomberg Government is not commenting on what appears to be the incredibly insensitive act of hiring a food truck to drive to Washington, D.C.’s Dupont Circle neighborhood to delight readers with treats.

Who doesn’t love ice cream? It’s all fine and well when Bloomberg is not also laying off up to 100 staffers. Sources told the New York Post that the layoffs are expected to target politics and government reporters out of the New York and Washington, DC, bureaus.

How quaint. Ex-employees can show up and say: “I’ll have sprinkles with my pink slip!”

“I know from working at a network that budgets don’t work that way — marketing and people resources,” said a Mirror source speaking on condition of anonymity. “Not the same pool of money. But it’s still a little insensitive when the only treats they’re serving their staffers are big scoops of unemployment.”

The Mirror priced out possible costs associated with these afternoon treats.

Take a look. And keep in mind, these were modest guesses on the number of people they plan to feed and what they would feed them.
