Willie Geist said that Hillary Clinton’s comment comparing GOP candidates to “terrorists groups” “feels a little beneath her,” and that “it feels a little desperate.”

Geist, on “Morning Joe” Friday, indicated that Hillary is “playing politician,” since “she knows how to make an attack without using that kind of language.”

Joe Scarborough: First of all, it’s a disgusting, disgusting thing to say, but I laugh because that time I noticed she goes, “It is” — and she looks down at her notes and she goes, “dead wrong to go” — it is, like I said, the worst part of it is that slanderous remark was actually written down. Willie, we already played the game. What if a Republican…

Willie Geist: Oh, you already played that game?

Scarborough: Yes, of course, flames would have risen from the earth’s core and devoured the entire party if a Republican had said this, but Hillary is saying it now.

Geist: I think here are two bad things. That’s true. If a Republican had said — compared ISIS to Planned Parenthood or something like that, the world would have ended, but also she doesn’t mean that. Do you know what I mean? She is …

Scarborough: You can tell.

Geist: She’s playing politician. She’s incredibly smart. She knows how to make an attack without using that kind of language. And, frankly, it feels a little beneath her. I mean, there are some candidates — you go, “OK,” and brush it to the side. But I don’t know why, it feels a little desperate, I have to say.

Scarborough: Yeah, it does feel desperate and it also feels like she’s trying to change the subject. So we’re talking about this this morning instead of talking about an email story that she can’t defend.

Geist: Right.
