Trump On Attacking Opponents: ‘I’m More Of A Counterpuncher’

Now that a poll shows Ben Carson tied with Donald Trump in Iowa, will the billionaire frontrunner turn his attack on the world-renowned neurosurgeon?

Trump says probably not — that is, unless Carson attacks him first.

“I’m more of a counterpuncher,” Trump told CNN’s Don Lemon Tuesday night when asked whether Carson was next in line to face a barrage of Twitter insults. “You know, Jeb went after me and, if you know, Perry went after me and I went after him. Rand Paul for some reason, out of the blue, came after me and I went after him.  And the other one I guess would be Lindsay Graham. I thought these people were all fine and they came after me and then I had to go after them. Perhaps I did a better job than they did, but they all went down and they went down big league.”

Trump went on to say he likes Carson, but couldn’t say for sure whether a rhetorical fist fight was in their future.

“Ben and I have gotten to know each other over the years,” Trump said. “I like him. I don’t know. I can’t tell you what’s going to happen because I really don’t know. You know, politics is — it’s very strange thing and a very strange place that you end up in.”
