Fox News killed it in the month of August amongst prime time viewership on basic cable.

August was the highest-rated month since November 2012 in primetime ratings for the network. Fox News played host to the first Republican debate on August 6 where Donald Trump helped bring huge crowds. The Fox News debate was the highest rated program in FNC history and the highest rated non-sports programming in basic cable ever.

The month of August was the 164th consecutive month where FNC was number one in total viewers in both total day and primetime categories.

Competing against the rest of basic cable, FNC ranked number one in primetime total viewers, besting TNT, USA, HGTV and TBS. August was the second time this year the network has ranked number one in basic cable for the month.

Looking at total day viewership, FNC ranked #2, only behind NICK.

Compared to the other primetime cable news rankings where FNC was number one, MSNBC was #22, and CNN was #30.

The ratings were compiled by Nielsen.
