The Hillary Clinton campaign is still uncomfortable using the term “wiped” to describe the Democratic presidential candidate’s decision to delete all emails from her private email server.

In an interview with CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Thursday, Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon quibbled with the host’s use of the term “wiped” to describe the mass deletion.

“I don’t know what wiped means,” Fallon said in response to a question from Keilar, adding that it was true that Clinton’s emails “were deleted off the server.”

Clinton herself has avoided admitting that her emails were “wiped” from her homebrew system. When asked last month whether she instructed anyone to wipe the server of its emails, she joked, “like, with a cloth or something?”

During Thursday’s interview, Keilar also asked Fallon why Clinton didn’t keep her emails on her server.

“I don’t know what the pertinence of that would have been,” Fallon said.
