Donald Trump threw himself into another feud Wednesday after one of the greatest basketball players of all time expressed his distaste for Trump’s political positions.

Trump told the six-time NBA champion, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, that he doesn’t “have a clue about life or what has to be done to make America great again.”

On Wednesday morning, The Washington Post published an opinion piece written by Abdul-Jabbar comparing Trump to Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and saying Trump was falling while Sanders was gaining ground in the presidential race.

Abdul-Jabbar accused Trump of alienating women and “attacking the First Amendment’s protection of a free press by menacing journalists,” for comments Trump made to Fox News host Megyn Kelly during a Republican presidential debate.

“Attempting to bully the press to silence criticism of him is anti-American,” Abdul-Jabbar wrote. “The biggest enemy to the principles of the Constitution right now is Trump.”

Trump didn’t take kindly to the basketball star’s attacks on his American-ness. Later in the day, Trump responded by printing out Abdul-Jabbar’s piece and writing him a personal note on it.

“Kareem –
Now I know why the press always treated you so badly — they couldn’t stand you. The fact is that you don’t have a clue about life and what has to be done to make America great again!
Best wishes
Donald Trump”

Abdul-Jabbar posted the note on his Facebook along with more of his thoughts on Trump:

“This note from Donald Trump in response to my editorial is the best, though inelegant, support for my claims. Here again he attacks a journalist who disagrees with him, not by disputing the points made but by hurling schoolyard insults such as ‘nobody likes you.’ But if you look behind the nasty invective, you find the assault still remains against the Constitution in an effort to silence the press through intimidation.”
