NEW YORK — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has no plans to run against the GOP nominee should he lose the primary. But if he does win, moves on to the general election and wins the presidency, he told The Daily Caller and other reporters at a press conference Thursday that his kids will not be part of his administration.

Trump, however, believes his children “are very capable,” and could handle a job in his administration. Trump met with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus Thursday afternoon and signed a pledge promising he would not run third party against the Republican nominee.

“The best way for the Republicans to win is if I win the nomination and go directly against whoever they happen to put up. And for that reason, I have signed the pledge,” Trump said, waving the document around. “So I will be totally pledging my allegiance to the Republican Party and for the conservative principles for which it stands.”

Trump took questions from reporters who asked his immigration stance.

“Don’t forget if I didn’t bring up the subject of illegal immigration, nobody would even be talking about immigration. And immigration and illegal immigration has become a very big fact with respect to crime,” he said.

When asked by The Daily Caller how he could pass his immigration plan with a reluctant Congress that may not give him 60 votes in the Senate he responded, “Well there is gridlock in Congress right now, because there is no leadership at the top.”

He explained, “To lead you have to be able to get people into your office. You have to get people. You have to go to them. But you have to be able to lead. There is no leadership at the top. Signing executive orders is not the way our country is supposed to be run.”
