An LGBT activist did not waste anytime following Kim Davis’s arrest and jailing on Thursday and purchased the domain freekimdavis.com so that the URL would be redirected to the Human Rights Campaign donation page.

Davis is a Rowan County, Kentucky clerk who refused to issue same sex marriage licenses to couples and ordered deputy clerks under her not to do so either following the June Supreme Court decision that legalized same sex marriage across the country. Davis was found to be in contempt of court and ordered to serve jail time on Thursday.

Detractors of Davis’s want to ensure that Davis cannot raise funds for herself. GoFundMe.com does not allow individuals to raise funds to bail a person out of jail.

“Plaintiffs in the case had asked [District Court Judge David] Bunning to fine Davis, but they specifically requested that he not jail her. Bunning, though, said fines would not work because others might raise money to pay the penalty on her behalf,” the Daily Kos reported.

Davis’s lawyers, CNN reports, requested Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear she be released from jail, but the governor’s office responded that the conflict was a “matter between her and the courts.”

Horatio Mihet, a lawyer for Davis, told CNN that she was “willing to stay in this jail as long as it takes in order for her to win back her constitutional rights not just for her but for Americans of all faiths.”
