Retired General Michael Hayden explained that the Iranians will cheat on the nuclear deal but they won’t have to cheat in a “way that really matters in the first 10 years” because “they don’t need to.”

Hayden, appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday, argued that the nuclear agreement the Obama administration has made with the Iranians “gets them to where they want to be.”

“Look, are the Iranians going to cheat on the program? Yeah,” Hayden said. “Cheat in a way that really matters in the first 10 years? I don’t think so. They don’t need to.”

“The program gets them to where they want to be,” he continued. “And so I have great fear that what we, we haven’t made a first down. We’ve punted.”
