Miss Georgia thought she was a goner after she said that Tom Brady had “definitely cheated” during her interview question at the Miss America pageant.

“Did he cheat? Um, that’s a really good question,” Betty Cantrell said when asked if the New England Patriots quarterback knew about deflated balls. “I’m not sure. I think I’d have to be there to see the ball, and feel it to make sure it was deflated or not deflated. But if there was question there, then yes, I think he cheated.”

“If there were any question to be had, I think that he definitely cheated, and he should’ve been suspended for that. That’s not fair.”

Cantrell later won the crown.

But in an interview with the Associated Press this week, Cantrell said she had no idea about the facts surrounding Brady’s case. (RELATED: Miss America Won While Wearing A Crop Top)

“You know, I tried to give an opinion based on the facts that I knew, which were very slim, and I think that the verdict came out during the week of competition that the suspension was (lifted), and that he was able to play again, so I had no idea,” Cantrell said.

“We really don’t have our phones that week so I didn’t know that had happened and I just want to leave that question up to the sports fans. Hopefully, the Tom Brady fans will forgive me and be OK with me again so we’ll see, but I think it is blowing over.” (SLIDESHOW: 13 Stunning Swimsuit Photos From The Miss America Pageant)
