A bank robber had his plot foiled on Monday afternoon when a concealed carry holder shot him three times at a bank in Warren, Michigan according to Fox 2 Detroit.

The thief turned his gun on a 63-year-old bank patron, who quickly pulled his legally concealed weapon and shot the criminal in one leg and both arms. The robber is recovering in serious condition at the hospital.

“The 63-year-old responded in kind by defending himself,” Mayor Jim Fouts told Fox 2. “It’s his Second Amendment right.”

Witness Gary Guyette echoed the major’s sentiments, saying, “It’s not every day you see a bad guy get shot and get taken down.”

“I’m glad to see that more people are carrying guns,” Guyette said. “And the bad guys think twice before they do something bad — and take care of business.”

“For those people that are anti-gun and anti-us civilians carrying firearms, I say what if that was you inside of that bank?” asked Stefan Bahry, a firearms instructor at Action Impact Gun Range. “What if that person turned his gun on everybody inside the bank and just started shooting people for the heck of it. Maybe there is that one person that’s going to defend your life and that’s going to defend my life.”
