Australian officials want to ban Chris Brown from entering the country because of his domestic violence charges.

The singer is trying to obtain a visa so he can tour in the country, but one minister is recommending that his entry be denied because of his “character.”

“People need to understand if you are going to commit domestic violence and then you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you: ‘You cannot come in because you are not of the character we expect in Australia,'” Michaelia Cash said. “This is a government that is not afraid to say: ‘no.'”

Australia’s prime minister said Cash “has very brilliantly expressed the thoughts of the government.”

Britain, Canada and New Zealand have all denied Brown’s visa before.

Brown beat up his then-girlfriend Rihanna hours before the Grammy Awards backing 2009. He plead guilty to domestic assault charges and served 108 days in jail. He got off probation earlier this year. (RELATED: Chris Brown Just Got Dumped On Twitter)
