Politico co-founder Jim VandeHei argued that “a lot of voters in a lot of important places don’t think Hillary Clinton is honest” on Friday’s “Morning Joe.”

VandeHei explained that in the current political system there is “raw anger,” which is “why Donald Trump can be nasty and be successful. And it’s why Bernie Sanders could be a socialist and be successful.”

Jim VandeHei: I mean, if you look at the polls from the last several months, a lot of voters in a lot of important places don’t think Hillary Clinton is honest. And you look at The New York Times front page, ‘Clinton Inquiry Weighs if Aides Erred at ‘Send’’ on emails to her that contained sensitive information. And that’s all people are hearing, that’s all they are getting from Hillary Clinton. It’s manifesting itself in these polls. I also thing at the same time, Bernie Sanders taps into something. There is anger out there. Yesterday was great, today’s great. We love the calm; we love the humility of the pope being in town. But when you think about the politics, there’s just raw anger. And it’s why Donald Trump can be nasty and be successful. And it’s why Bernie Sanders could be a socialist and be successful. That’s the moment in politics we have.
