Robert Bosso spent the final moments of his life Saturday wrestling a gunman to the ground during a robbery attempt in Orlando, Florida, as he told his girlfriend to run to safety. As Bosso’s girlfriend ran for help a single gunshot rang out claiming the life of Bosso.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Bosso’s girlfriend ran to a neighbor near Valencia College, but before help could arrive more assailants arrived ultimately killing him. The actions of Bosso weren’t surprising to his father who described his son as a religious and caring person. “He was courageous and a wonderful guy, a devout Catholic. He was a wonderful child. We are going to miss him,” the elder Bosso told reporters.
Police responded to a shooting at the Valencia Park Apartments, an area that generally has low crime, at 11 p.m. on Saturday night, but were unable to find any of the suspects at the scene. Bosso and his girlfriend were returning from dinner when he sacrificed himself to save her life. The girlfriend hasn’t made any public statements and hasn’t been named. Bosso’s father said that his son and his girlfriend had been dating for a year and half and were in love.
