If you’re going to try to break into the home of a former United States Marine it might be wise to bring more than four people. That’s the lesson four wanna-be robbers learned when they attempted to break into the home of former Marine Eric Walters on August 7 in Hewitt, Texas.

The criminals have finally been brought into custody by local police according to KWTX News. As of Monday, all four were police custody with the only adult Chris Barrientos, 18, being held in an adult facility. The other three suspects have not have their personal information released because they are minors. (RELATED: Bank Customer Shoots Armed Robber)

Walters retrieved a gun when he woke to knocking on his door early on the morning of August 7. As soon as Walters opened the door he was rushed by one of the armed suspects. Walters shut the door and rapidly fired six shots through the door at the assailants, who quickly ran away. (RELATED: Texan Blows Away Crooks, Foils Home Invasion)

Walters credits still being alive to the fact that he had a gun saying, “If I [hadn’t been] armed, I’d probably be dead.”

Police say there is no specific reason for why Walters’ house was targeted.
