Mintz, who is in stable condition, repeatedly said, “It’s my son’s birthday, it’s my son’s birthday,” after being shot, according to the Daily Beast. Mintz, an Army veteran in school studying to become a certified fitness instructor, suffered multiple fractured bones and will have to learn how to walk again. None of the bullets struck any major organs. (RELATED: HERO: Meet The 30-Year-Old Army Vet Who Was Shot Five Times Shielding Classmates From Oregon Shooter [PHOTOS])
