Whenever he decides to retire, there’s no doubt that Ichiro Suzuki is headed to Cooperstown.
Among other accolades, the Marlins’ 41-year-old outfielder holds the MLB record for hits in a single season (262), but he was able to finally fulfill a lifetime dream during Sunday’s season-ending loss to the Phillies: pitching in a Major League game.
Ichiro took the bump in the 8th, and though he hasn’t pitched since high school, he managed to hit 88 on the gun and show off arguably the filthiest slider in the Marlins’ bullpen.
