Twitter unveiled a new feature on Tuesday that now lets users keep up with breaking news and popular Tweets more easily than ever through a constantly updated feed.

Called Moments, the new tab on the social media site is marked with a lightning bolt and curates popular Tweets and news stories all in one place. (RELATED: Apple’s Siri About To Become Much More Realistic)

“We know finding these only-on-Twitter moments can be a challenge, especially if you haven’t followed certain accounts. But it doesn’t have to be,” Twitter’s product manager Madhu Muthukumar said in an announcement.

When the lightning tab is clicked, a bevy of trending and popular stories appears under categories ranging from News and Sports, to a grouping called HAHA. Users can even browse older or less popular stories by clicking section headings in the Moments tab, which will open to an even greater abundance of stories. These trending topics and stories can be followed, and will keep users updated anytime there is a new development — which will be especially useful for breaking news stories and sports games.

Moments content is presently selected by a Twitter curation team, but in the future the social media site plans to team with various news outlets to bring instant news and stories, according to Muthukumar.

The feature is currently only available to U.S. Twitter users operating computers, as well as Android or iOS devices, but will be implemented across the world in coming months, the press released announced.

“Moments helps you find the best of Twitter as easily as tapping an icon – regardless of who you follow,” Muthukumar wrote. “Just visit the new tab called Moments, where you will discover stories unfolding on Twitter.”
