Viral Photo Of Officer Holding Scared Woman’s Hand Gets Crazy Amount Of Support From Public

A photo of a California police officer who took the hand of a woman too scared to go in the hospital alone has gone viral.

The Visalia Police Department posted the picture to Facebook on Friday of Officer Leon Leonard holding an unidentified woman’s hand as she walked into the hospital for voluntary treatment. (RELATED: Selfless Police Officer Rents Hotel Room For Homeless Family)

According to the department’s social media page, the woman asked for “officer assistance” because she was too nervous to go in the hospital alone for treatment. When the police asked her what they could do, she said “one of you will have to hold my hand.”

ABC30’s reporter Veronica Miracle shared the picture on her Facebook page with along with “#humankindness,” urging the public to show the police department “some love.” Because of her post, the photo went viral with over 5,000 Facebook likes and hundreds of comments supporting cops around the country.

“How sad that because of the few bad cops there is that the many good one’s have to prove that they do good things,” Linda Luna commented on the picture. “I appreciate the good officers and their efforts to stay on the right path and continue to serve us.”
