A man dressed similarly to Darth Vader carried out a sword attack at a Swedish junior high school Thursday, killing two and putting two in critical condition.

Two girls who thought he was dressed up for Halloween season asked the man if he would take a picture with them shortly after he entered the school. The man, later identified as 21-year-old Anton Lundin Pettersson, silently agreed and posed between the two girls. A teacher then walked up and told Pettersson to leave as “he was scaring the children.”

“He just nodded and stabbed the teacher on his right side,” one of the girls told Aftonbladet. “The last thing I heard was ‘call an ambulance.'”

Pettersson started chasing the girls down the hall while attempting to stab anyone in his way.

“I looked back and saw that he was following us,” the girl said. “I was incredibly scared.”

When police arrived at the scene Pettersson attempted to attack them but was shot and later died at a local hospital. The teacher and a student were killed and two other victims were sent to the hospital in critical condition. It is believed Pettersson had racist motivations for his attack. The school has a high immigrant population and three of the four victims had foreign backgrounds. He was described as a loner that had recently started engaging in white supremacist culture.
