A school bus driver in Iowa was arrested on Thursday after footage surfaced of him assaulting a special needs student.

Bus driver Robert Scarbrough was caught on camera by students attacking an unidentified 15-year-old boy with a reported mental disability, according to the Associated Press.

Des Moines-area authorities got ahold of the recorded assault on Thursday, and were able to arrest Scarbrough later that day on assault charges. (RELATED: Bully Punches Blind Kid, Hero Steps In And Beats The Crap Out Of Bully)

The boy was reportedly injured by the driver and was treated in an ambulance, but did not require further attention at a hospital.

It is unclear what prompted the assault, but Scarbrough was put on administrative leave after his arrest, with the Johnston Community School District telling the AP, “it appears as though the driver made a series of poor choices regarding how to handle the student’s behavior.”
