Iranian explosives killed 196 service members between 2003 and 2011, according to a U.S. Central Command report.

The report, described to The Washington Free Beacon, states that at least 196 U.S. troops have been killed and another 861 have been wounded from a total of 1,534 attacks. The Obama administration received a lot of criticism for its unwillingness to prosecute Iranian and Palestinian terrorists responsible for deaths of American soldiers, during a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing Wednesday.

“That blood is on Iran’s hands,” said Texas GOP senator and presidential candidate [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore]. “Iran has been and still is at war with the U.S.”

Cruz went on to call the Iran nuclear deal “the worst betrayal” against the victims and blamed President Barack Obama and the Department of  Justice for doing nothing to prosecute the terrorists. Iran-backed Palestinian terrorists have killed more than 53 Americans without a single person held accountable.

“The U.S. government has rather shockingly failed time and time again to fulfill its sovereign duty to obtain justice for its citizens,” Cruz said. ” Our government has failed terror victims in a number of ways.”

The same death toll was first reported by Defense One in September. The number is less than half of  the 500 number that has been floating around Congress over the summer.

Democratic Sen. [crscore]Chris Coons[/crscore] of Delaware agreed that more needs to done to compensate the families of the victims, but warned that measures against Iran may bolster terrorism.

“As much as I too want to take from Iran to compensate victims of the attacks, we must carefully consider every tool at our disposal,” Coons said.

Both Cruz and Coons called for a bipartisan bill for compensations to terror victims.
